Graham Lustig’s The Nutcracker

About the Show

"This Nutcracker seems destined to become a treasured keepsake," says Robert Johnson of The Star-Ledger.

The dazzling sets and costumes designed by Emmy® Award-winner Zack Brown provide a wonderful backdrop to the engaging choreography by Graham Lustig. Muted colors and tones are used in the first act, so that the brilliant colors of the magical land in the second act transport the audience to another world. Families young and old will follow Marie and her Nutcracker Prince as they journey to a faraway land filled with Sugar Plums, Bonbons, Chocolate, and Tea.

ARB’s production of Graham Lustig’s The Nutcracker offers the students of ARB’s Princeton Ballet School the unique opportunity to perform with the company members; the company and students work closely together during rehearsals and on stage. Lustig created student roles for all ages, heights, and abilities to allow as many students as possible to experience being in a full-scale ballet production. This year, The Nutcracker is truly a family affair! Sixteen sets of siblings and two parent-child pairings from ARB’s Princeton Ballet School are involved with the production. The professional dancers of American Repertory Ballet look forward to working with the students of ARB’s Princeton Ballet School.
