Imagined by author and director Daniele Finzi Pasca, Rain warms the hearts of all with aerial artists, contortionists, acrobats, jugglers, musicians, and illusionists. The show is a stunning synthesis of theater, circus, music, and visual design. As a circus troupe rehearses, reality begins to blur. Like a collection of old photographs suddenly brought to life, still images morph into breathtaking displays of gravity-defying stunts. Acrobats roll across the stage inside giant steel hoops. Aerial artists soar and plummet overhead. The entire company dives and splashes in a surprise rain shower. The New York Times calls this opulent production “wild, witty, wet, and altogether winning.”
Rain is presented as part of the State Theatre’s winter festival, Hub City Carnivale.
