About This Show

Between 1996 and 1998, Cheryl Robertson, a Ph.D. Candidate in the school of nursing at the University of Minnesota, interviewed Bosnian women about their plight during the Balkan conflict. Her focus was not on the atrocities of the war, but on its psychological and sociological effects on the family. Stone Hearts combines authentic transcripts from Robertson’s research with a fictionalized family story created from actual incidents. It chronicles the plight of a family coping with the harsh circumstances of war. Focus is placed on 16-year-old Camila as she struggles to find meaning in a world shattered by the chaos of war. In the end, she must choose either to succumb to the emotional and spiritual vacuum of the adults around her or embrace the lerger sense of humanity she finds within herself and her siblings.
