About the Show
Pulitzer Prize winning poet Rita Dove will discuss her most recent publication of poems, American Smooth with host Kerri Miller. The book is infused with dance rhythms, swinging between historical and personal portraits of various Americans, from the “Great War’s negro soldiers” to jazz musicians to a young girl from Harlem. The work of the former U.S. Poet Laureate and English professor traverses a wide landscape, applying an unflinching eye upon historical and political events.
