About This Show

Inspired by the best-selling book by Laura Joplin, Love, Janis takes audiences beyond the music and into the soul of a legend. The show uses Janis’s own words – either from letters, interviews or her songs – to trace her explosive rise to fame in the ’60s to her tragic death in 1970. In addition, this intimate portrayal brings to life many of her smash-hit classics, including “Piece of My Heart,” “Get It While You Can,” “Me and Bobby McGee,” “Ball and Chain,” and “Mercedes Benz.”

Alternating in the role of Janis are: Kate Eifrig (The Guthrie production of The Great Gatsby); Monica Heuser (A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline, National Tour); and Jill Mikelson, who has performed throughout the country as a soloist and with musical groups. Jamie Rocco directs.
