15 Head presents a company-created opera adaptation, directed by Greg Smucker. In creating the piece, the theater lab takes an opera aria, dispenses with the original plotline, and creates a brand new story to make it interesting. Then they throw in wild dancing, evocative poetry, a slide blues guitar and some funky video. The 15 arias in this 90-minute show form a series of short meditations on the place of passion (or lack thereof) in our workaday lives. A quartet of the Twin Cities’ finest vocalists joins 15 Head’s acting ensemble for an eye-opening evening of music, dance and amazing visuals.
