About This Show

Song of Miriam traces a 28-year-old woman’s ordeal with breast cancer. As she takes control of her health and life, Miriam knits together a support system of vibrant and quirky characters: Ling, her Asian hairstylist who composes lively and prophetic poems; Anna, her big-hearted Italian seamstress who offers love and cannoli; and best friend Rilka, a painter, who brings Miriam into her home during this arduous time. The three Fates, masked goddesses who act as a Greek chorus, dance and guide Miriam along her journey. The music, performed by the Fiddler, a mystical street musician, and two female vocalists, captures the rawness of Miriam’s illness as well as the transformative power of hope.
