About This Show

The Provincetown Fringe Festival is collaborating with the Eugene O’Neill Society and the Susan Glaspell Society to present the Second Annual Susan Glaspell Marathon. The event was a resounding success last year. From the Susan Glaspell Society Newsletter: “Many thanks to Artistic Director Marjorie Conn and Director Karen Maloney for providing this wonderful opportunity for theatre professionals and academic scholars to get together in Glaspell’s beloved Provincetown to read, hear, and discuss Glaspell’s plays. It was an exhilarating experience to hear and participate in these living, moving, and relevant works.”

The Marathon was inspired by Cheryl Black’s book, Women in Provincetown and is supported by The Susan Glaspell Society. Scholars from around the world including Tel Aviv, Germany and Brazil will be attending. The plays to be read in this year’s marathon are Inheritors, Suppressed Desires, Woman’s Honor, & Tickless Time. Susan Glaspell is best known as co-founder, with her husband, Jig Cook, of the legendary Provincetown Players. That’s where many of Eugene O’Neill’s plays had their first airings as well as her own play Trifles, which is being performed all summer long every Wednesday at 7 PM from June 29 to August 31 in conjunction with O’Neill’s Bound East for Cardiff. There will be 3 previews at 7 PM from Tuesday, June 14 to Thursday June 19.

There is Free Parking at the Provincetown Inn. The theater also offers free wine, free lollipops, free seltzer.
