Passion

Winner of the 1994 Tony Award for Best Musical, Stephen Sondheim’s Passion tells the tale of a dark obsessive relationship between a homely, ailing woman (Fosca) and a handsome captain (Giorgio) at a remote army outpost in 19th century Italy. Their relationship is contrasted with the captain’s affair with Clara, a married woman who, despite her deep love for Giorgio, cannot break free to be with him.
