About This Show

A landmark play from the 1970s, Bent has shocked, amazed and moved audiences for the past 25 years. Now, SouthCity Theatre brings this powerful story to Boston for only 6 performances. For anyone, gay or straight, who has ever battled homophobia or discrimination of any kind; indeed, for anyone who has ever loved despite adversity, Bent is an affordable, accessible, relevant experience and not to be missed. Bent is the story of Max, a German homosexual, caught in the early horrors of Nazi Germany, 1934. The play follows him through friends and lovers, from Berlin to Dachau as he flees both his government and his own identity. Finally imprisoned in Dachau, Max must balance self-respect and survival while making excrutiating decisions regarding his faith in love, humanity and his own identity.
