About This Show

George Patterson directs, and with his partner Mickey Gil, produces two monologues from Talking Heads, a collection of monologues written by playwright Alan Bennett. Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads consists of twelve monologues that dramatize typically British characters, all but two being women, and most of them at the end of their lives, and to one degree or another, their ropes.

“The Hand of God” tells the story of Celia (Charlotte Schully), who, as an acerbic and smug dealer of antiques, explains in painful, and funny, detail, what she is presently doing with her tomatoes; while “Bed Among the Lentils” relates, in bitingly satirical terms, the plight of a Vicar’s wife named Susan (Janet Shea) who has fled to the bottle for solace from her boring husband, and finds salvation in the arms of an East Indian grocer and purveyor of spirits named Mr. Ramesh in his shop, where the bed is among the lentils.
