About This Show

Imagine complete isolation, with no reading, writing, work, human contact, or stimuli of any kind. This was a treatment developed in the late 1800’s to cure the nervouseness caused by over-stimulation, particularly in women. The so-called “cure” was critiqued by author Charlotte Perkins Gilman in a short story called The Yellow Wallpaper. Adapted for the stage by performer Jill Remez and director Kerry Noonan, it is a stunning portrait of a woman’s descent into madness.
