The Glass Menagerie is considered by many to be his finest play and contains autobiographical elements from Mr. Williams’ days in St. Louis and his family’s past in Mississippi. The play burst its way onto Broadway in 1945 winning the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award as the best play of the season. Mr. Williams, at the age of 34, had etched an indelible mark among the public and among his peers. His legacy continues to make a lasting imprint in theatres across the world.
