About this show

Stage Door, George S. Kaufman and Edna Ferber's classic depression era story, follows the residents of New York's Footlights Club "a club for girls of the stage" as they all vie for their place on Broadway's glittering stages of 1936. All eighteen actresses survive the vicissitudes of life on and off the stage with the help of the aging Diva and house mistress Mrs. Orcutt as well as their various boyfriends, mothers, fathers and lovers. Loves are lost and won, fortunes made and lives shattered as the residents of the Footlights club find that the life of the stage is, for those who can hack it, worth every price. The famous 1937 Academy Award-winning movie starring Katherine Hepburn, Lucille Ball, Ginger Rogers and Adolphe Menjou was based on this funny, charming, and moving play.
