About This Show

A vibrant celebration for Black Music Month, Six Letters In Harlem is a coming of age story about Jr., a young African-american teen male who travels to Harlem and learns of his grandfathers life story who has since passed away. Through his grandfathers own words, Jr. relives the musical legacy, friendships, loves and passion for Harlem that his grandfather was known for. He also pieces together the puzzle of a side of his family hes never known.

As Jr. finds the elegance, class and style of the Harlem Renaissance he is confronted by the changes and struggles of the Harlem of today. Along the journey, Jr. must choose between the realm of perception and the magic of faith.

In addition to it’s dramatic elements, Six Letters In Harlem is an empowering musical experience that celebrates the songs from artists such as Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway and Count Basie. This classic musical style is fused with Hip Hop breaks and beats to create an appreciation for both genres and generations
