About this show

The title of the play Scarcity refers to the fact that the family of its focus, the Lawrences of a small town in western Massachusetts, is economically challenged. They don't have much, and they live in an economically depressed community in a state which is also home to institutions possessed of vast wealth (Harvard, Smith, Mount Holyoke, M.I.T.). There are certainly rich Massachusetts families, some of them with Old Money, but they don't live around here.
