About This Show

Irene “Mama Stokes” – born in Cleveland Ohio and veteran actress of stage and screen – is set to star in this ground breaking multi-media theatrical production.

IRENE “MAMA STOKES” is an award winning actress with over 30 film and television credits. She is also a stand-up comedienne and has played at several prestigious venues including the MGM Grand as the opening act for Sinbad. Her appearances have kept audiences roaring with bellyache laughter at local venues such as The Comedy Store, The Laugh Factory, The House of Blues and many others. A dedicated mother of six children, she struggled as a single parent while pursuing her career in show business in the late seventies. Always accompanied with her children, diaper bag and baby bottles in tow, people would say “Here comes Irene and her kids” yet she managed to audition and land roles, silencing all critics. Her children two of whom have etched their names in the music business, Chris and Juanita Stokes aka Needa-S, songstress with the hit single “Baby Mama” learned the ins and outs of show bizness by watching Mama Stokes from “the wings” or more aptly “under her wings.” Her children were the first to preview her kitchen jokes that earned her the title Irene “Mama Stokes.” Irene Stokes will perform her one-woman show about her life in a multi-faceted, multi-media dimensional show directed by accomplished television writer, Walter Allen Bennett, Jr., former Executive Producer of The Steve Harvey Show.
