Miguel Pinero is one of the most widely produced modern playwrights. He is acclaimed for Short Eyes, a prison drama that was awarded the Obie and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best American Play of the 1973-74 Season. Short Eyes has been succeeded by nine other plays that have received critical praise throughout the United States.
