Enchanted April

Four courageous women in wet and dreary 1922 England, change their lives in the sunshine and wisteria of Italy. The vision of these women creates changes that reflect the yearnings of a whole nation recovering from the wounds of war. This delightful play begins in stormy England and blossoms triumphantly in the light, love and warmth of Italy. Playwright Matthew Barber received numerous awards including a 2003 Tony Award nomination for his first play Enchanted April. It’s based on Elizabeth von Arnim’s 1921 best-selling novel about the rediscovery of life’s enchantments. Some contemporaries considered her one of the great wits of her day in Europe.
