About this show

In late 2003, Fountains of Wayne received a flattering, but rather puzzling "Best New Artist" Grammy nomination. This made long time fans chuckle as those "in the know" know that Welcome Interstate Managers, the album that spawned the ubiquitous "Stay's Mom" and topped critics' polls everywhere, was actually the New York based group's third collection of melodic Pop/Rock gems. There style won them accolades and has landed them gigs in larger venues as well as getting them on the MTV and VH1 charts. Mike Viola is best known as a singer/songwriter and musical architect of the Candy Brothers, a highly regarded Pop/Rock band from New York who have recorded three albums including 2003's very popular Hang On Mike. Viola is also the man behind the Oscar nominated title track from "That Thing You Do."
