About This Show

Madman percussionist Cyro Baptista, creator of Beat the Donkey, is a living “Who’s Who” of modern music. Over the last ten years, he has emerged as the premier percussionist whose music coincides with the public’s interest in “World Music.” Cyro performs on over 30 different percussion instruments from his native country of Brazil, as well as from all over the world, and many instruments he creates himself.

“Beat the Donkey” comes from the Brazilian expression “Pau Na Mula!” meaning, “Let’s go, let’s do it!” Brazilian at its core with African, Indonesian, and American Rock, Hip Hop,Funk and Jazz; Beat The Donkey springs from the imagination of bad boy percussionist Cyro Baptista (Sting, Paul Simon, Herbie Hancock). He leads a torrid, unstoppable ensemble of drummers, percussionists, samba dancers, tap dancers, Capoeira performers, singers, a DJ, and exotically costumed players for a musical spectacle unlike any other.
