New York City
To mark the 100th birthday of one of the greatest playwrights in history, Jermyn Street Theatre and Good Night Out has the honour of presenting the world premiere of the only published work by Tennessee Williams that has never been produced.
Renowned for the naked transparency of his writing, this play proffers a final, poignant glimpse from beyond the grave into the mind of a tortured genius. One of Williams’ final written works (completed 2 years before his death), A Cavalier for Milady is an outrageous and disturbing snapshot into the life of a young, troubled woman who spends her life adorned in children’s clothes, emotionally deprived, heavily medicated and sequestered from society. While her bombastic and hedonistic mother spends her evenings revelling in flamboyant sexual trysts with male escorts, Nance plays out her sexual fantasies with the balletic apparition of Vaslav Nijinsky.
