The Musical of Musicals–The Musical!

It’s the age-old set up – the young ingénue has hit hard times and can’t pay the rent – “oh my.” The evil, lecherous landlord is demanding his payment in one form or another, otherwise she’s out in the cold – “boo…hiss.” The kindly, wise old woman offers said ingénue worldly advice and wisdom – “oooh.” Enter the dashingly handsome, kind and generous hero (please hold… said hero needs to save a cat from a burning tree…ok, we’re back) who saves the day – “yea!”

But wait, there’s more…lots more. This play takes that basic plot and does it five times in five different musical styles with just four actors. That’s right, The Musical of Musicals – The Musical! is five mini-musicals in one including: a Rodgers and Hammerstein spin off titled “Corn,” a Stephen Sondheim spoof called “A Little Complex,” a Jerry Herman piece named “Dear Abby,” an Andrew Lloyd Webber tribute penned “Aspects of Junita,” and of course a Kander and Ebb nod called “Speakeasy.” The zany, witty humor will keep you laughing and the fun-loving music will have you singing for weeks.
