Disney’s High School Musical

Disney’s High School Musical opens the Pittsburgh CLO’s 2007 Summer Musical Season at the Benedum Center on May 29. In a first for Pittsburgh CLO and Disney Theatrical Productions, after the show’s cast and creative team rehearse in Pittsburgh and perform for three weeks, the company will begin a National Tour produced by Disney Theatrical Productions. Disney’s High School Musical is a contemporary musical comedy about the story of two teenagers – Troy Bolton, super-popular captain of the basketball team, and Gabriella Montez, super-smart transfer student and a genius in science class – who try to navigate the tricky currents of peer pressure to follow their dream and score the leads in the big school show.

The stage production has a book by David Simpatico, based on the film by Peter Barsochinni. The Billboard Chart-topping score from this Disney blockbuster includes “Breaking Free,” “Get’cha Head in the Game” and “Start of Something New” plus two new songs created exclusively for this stage premiere!
