Chicago’s newest classical theatre, the Dead Writers Theatre Collective, presents Noël Coward’s The Vortex, a play about sexual vanity, narcissism and drug abuse in the upper English classes during the roaring 20s. Nicky Lancaster, a role created by and which made Noël Coward an overnight star, comes home from Paris in 1925 with a cocaine addiction to discover that his middle-aged mother, long past her prime, has taken a lover his own age. Dead Writers Theater Collective’s award-winning Artistic Director Jim Schneider directs, Kaelen Strouse and Bonnie Hilton star.
