About This Show

This soulful resetting of the Hans Christian Andersen tale as an African-American fable was the winner of a grant bestowed by the Richard Rodgers Awards Committee (chaired by Stephen Sondheim) of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and the Jonathan Larson Performing Arts Foundation Award. Written by Karole Foreman and Chicago native Andrew Chukerman, this work features participants in the Sandra K. Crown Program for American Classic Music Theater at Ravinia’s Steans Institute for Young Artists.

This workshop production of The Princess and the Black-Eyed Pea features Lillias White.
