About This Show

Tim Mooney returns to Chicago with his One-Man One-Man Play Festival: Moliere Than Thou, Criteria, and Karaoke Knights.

Criteria reveals a United States, fragmented and turned into three separate “unions,” determined by a Social Security Number, now tattooed onto the palm of each citizen. A lone terrorist is set to attack the “bloated, bourgeois Fives” in the western half of the U.S., but an unexpected (and hilarious) encounter with a waitress in a diner sets all of his plans at risk.

Moliere Than Thou finds the famous French comedian abandoned by his cast, and improvising his way through some of his most playful (and controversial) monologues. This work has won acclaim throughout the United States and Canada, and features hilarious scenes from Tartuffe, The School for Wives, Don Juan, Scapin, The Bourgeois Gentleman, and The Doctor in Spite of Himself.

Karaoke Knights, a One-Man Rock Opera, Mooney’s latest and most ambitious work, is an original musical revue, with fourteen songs capturing the inner monologues of karaoke crooners in a 5-way contest. Mooney plays all five characters, as well as the Karaoke Jockey, alongside a karaoke video, which tells the story of each character in counterpoint to the “KJ’s” introduction.
