Number the Stars

Set during WWII, the Nazi party is occupying Denmark, home to the Johansen family. Young Annemarie doesn’t quite understand the magnitude of the current events, but she, above others, must act courageously to protect her best friend Ellen, who is Jewish, from falling victim to the Nazis. Annemarie comes to learn the bitter truth of her situation and manages to garner strength from her freindship with Ellen. This is part of Metropolis’s new Literature to Life series.
