About This Show

Memory House is a timely, authentic portrait of a girl – and a world – on the cusp of an uncertain future. The play unfolds on New Year’s Eve, as devoted mother Maggie bakes a pie while her daughter Katia struggles to finish her college entrance essay before the midnight deadline. The seemingly innocuous question, “What’s in your memory house?” throws open a Pandora’s box for Katia that leads all the way back to her birth. With increasing anxiety, Maggie attempts to keep her daughter tethered to the deadline, to herself, and to her life. Written by Kathleen Tolan and directed by Sandy Shinner.
