About This Show

The Bishop of Chelsea, one Alfred Bridgenorth, is preparing to officiate at the wedding of his youngest daughter, when both the bride and groom abruptly halt the proceedings on discovering some of the legal responsibilities of marriage. Two of the wedding guests happen to be the the bishop’s younger brothers; the older one in the middle of a divorce, and the younger one still pursuing the bishop’s adamantly single sister-in-law. The addition of Mrs. George, the coal merchant’s wife, who has second sight, and a decidedly purple marital history, further complicates the plot in this laugh-out-loud comedy.
