Combat Chess

Babes with Blades and R&D Choreographer battle in Combat Chess, a live chess match with members of each troupe playing the game pieces on a giant chess board. The capture of each piece features a choreographed duel with weapons including rapier and dagger, staff, kali sticks, broadsword, shield, smallsword, mace, spear, whip, and katana. The show reveals the myriad of relationships between women and weapons and explores the modern incarnation of the amazon archetype.
