This star-spangled musical spectacular celebrates the birth of our nation in story and song. Composed by Sherman Edwards with book by Peter Stone, 1776 won five Tony Awards in 1969 and was revived on Broadway in 1997. Featuring musical numbers like "Sit Down, John," "Cool, Cool Considerate Men," "The Lees of Old Virginia," and "He Plays the Violin," this musical follows the historical accounts of what happened in Philadelphia in May, June and July, 1776.
