Day of Reckoning

About the Show

Melody Cooper’s Day of Reckoning follows legendary activist Lucy Parsons. Born in Texas, she had African American, Native American, and Mexican ancestry. Around 1870, Lucy met Albert Parsons, who would soon become her husband. In 1872, Lucy and Albert were forced to leave Texas because of their interracial marriage. They moved to Chicago in 1873, where Albert found a job as a printer for a newspaper and Lucy opened a dress shop to help support their young family.
