Kathrine Helmond stars as Nannerl Mozart, Wolfgang’s elder sister of five years, and as much a pianist wunderkind as her famous brother. On the eve of what would have been her brother’s 50th birthday, Nannerl — now a widow and with no surviving family — must decide what part of the Mozart family legacy should be shared with the world at large. In a script created from the compelling letters between family members, one sees the evoultion of Amadeus from wunderkind, to young adult, and ultimately, as a married man trying to both satisfy his creative urges versus the realities of earning a daily living. One also sees how Nannerl with very few options afforded her, attempts to create some sort of life for herself in the shodow of her brother and overbearing father — Leopold.
