Black History Gala 2006: The Spirit of New Orleans

About the Show

The Spirit of New Orleans is the theme for the Black History Gala 2006, hosted by the African-American Cultural Series. It starts with a VIP Reception that includes refreshments and a private silent auction, culminating in the presentation of the Entrepreneur Pioneer Award to local entrepreneurs that include Toni Simpson, Frank Cummings, Cleveland Perry, DDS, Andre Jean Lewis, Oscar Guilford, Rosco Davis, Dr. Allen, MD, Edmund Davis, Kenneth Childs, DDS and Benjamin Whitaker.

Musical guests for The Spirit of New Orleans include "AJ" (pronounced Ahhsh), the husband and wife international recording artists based in New York City, Kersten Stevens, performing tunes from her new CD "Walks of Faith." During the show, The AACS will present its Community Service Award to the person or persons who have demonstrated a level of commitment to the African American story.

The show’s finale includes an actual Mardi Gras Parade where all audience members are encouraged to participate, followed by an onstage afterparty featuring dancing and refreshments.
