About This Show

The Stamford Center for the Arts presents A Rare Pattern. Set in New York in the 1940’s, our protagonist looks back over her earlier life in the 1920’s as she comes of age at Vasser College. An original work using the music, poems and literary thought solely of women from the 1880’s through 1940, including Jane Austen, Emily Dickenson, Dorothy Parker, Gertrude Stein, Virginia Woolf, and many, many more. Featured music by Fanny Hensel, Clara Schumann, Amy Beach, Lili and Nadia Boulanger.
