Ellis Island… Gateway to a Dream

A high-spirited musical about courage, hope and the challenges of coming to a new country, Ellis Island… Gateway to a Dream follows a group of immigrants in the early 1900s. The show opens with a tour guide introducing a visiting group to Ellis Island. Their interest is peaked at the Wall of Honor as they look for familiar names, asking in song, “I Wonder if He’s Related To Me.” Suddenly, time freezes and the Wall parts, revealing the gateway to the dreams of those who passed through Ellis Island. The journey continues with several musical numbers, including “Streets Paved with Gold” and “Run a Machine,” sung by a young woman who proclaims that yes, she can do that.
