About This Show

Two of America’s strongest playwrights, Sundance and Obie Award-winning David Cale and Pulitzer Prize-nominee Dael Orlandersmith, explore what it means to be the “other” – to be excluded and the ensuing yearning for connection – through their own experiences and the characters they have created. A Q&A follows their performance.

David Cale and Dael Orlandersmith are two very different artists, each with distinct experiences and backgrounds; Dael is an African-American woman, David a gay man transplanted from Britain to America. As colleagues and neighbors in New York City, David (Floyd and Clea under the Western Sky) and Dael (Yellowman) are familiar with, and admirers of, each other’s work, but have never found an opportunity to collaborate. Until now.
