Charley’s Aunt

The time is 1892, the place is Oxford and two love-sick young men – Jack and Charley – wish to invite the objects of their affection over to their apartment. They have one serious problem: there is not a chaperone in site, until Charley’s Aunt, whom he has never met, cables that she will be arriving for a surprise visit. When she backs out at the last minute, enter Lord Fancourt, who just happens to be playing the role of a woman in a play. Who better to become Charley’s Aunt – until the real aunt shows up after all!
