About This Show

A poetic and comic fable steeped in political satire, Jean Giraudoux’s The Madwoman of Chaillot is a surprisingly timely play which suggests that often insane times call for insane measures. At the Café Chez Francis in Paris, the President and his business cohorts devise a plan to tear up the city in order to unearth the valuable oil they believe to lie beneath. These plans come to the attention of The Madwoman of Chaillot, a colorful woman who lives in her own world — one based upon justice, beauty, and the fulfillment of dreams. She and her equally “mad” friends embark on a quest to thwart the plans of the greedy prospectors, saving their beloved city and the future of the human race in the process.

There will be no performance Thursday, November 24.
