About This Show

A Hollywood celebrity who got his start as a founding member of a hard-working Chicago stage ensemble returns to his roots to try to save the now dying theater by directing the world premiere of a play he wrote. But his attempt to insert “Hollywood” into this small company wreaks more havoc than he expected. Written by Mike Beyer and Kirk Pynchon based on Pynchon’s experiences in Los Angeles, the satirical homage Johnny Theatre was also inspired by such celebrity theater companies as The Actors Gang and Lookingglass Theatre Company.
