Flamenco Passion Gala Performances

The elegance and passion of Spain’s dance, music and culture is showcased in the 35th American Spanish Dance & Music Festival, Wednesday, June 16 through Sunday, June 26. The Festival culminates in the wildly popular “Flamenco Passion” gala performances hailed as “exciting, sensual, and breathtaking” (Sid Smith, Chicago Tribune). This year’s program includes the world premiere of Baile de Luis Alonso” (The Dance of Luis Alonso) created by Ensemble Español Associate Artistic Director and First Dancer Irma Suarez Ruiz; the return of popular guest artists including acclaimed flamenco dancers Carmela Greco, Paloma Gomez and Christian Lozano; and a selection of popular masterworks created for Ensemble Español by Artistic Director and Founder Dame Libby Komaiko.
