About This Show

Teatro Bastardo presents the fourth mounting of the seasonal Halloween favorite, Conrad Brünst presents…Danse Macabre! – the live theatrical recreations of the lost films of Conrad Brünst, done via scripted plots in the style of a 1930’s horror film, complete with period costuming, such as fezzes and cravats. Live piano music is played, including the original theme song “12 AM” (featuring Jill Fenstermaker on vocals).

Brünst’s style is akin to the work of James Whale (and his films The Bride of Frankenstein, The Old Dark House and The Invisible Man), as well as Tod Browning (and his movies Dracula, Freaks and London at Midnight). Brünst’s films were so frightening that many of them were never released by the studio (then lost over the years due to nitrate deterioration and poor organizational skills). This comedy/horror/drama was titled to evoke a sense of gothic horror with some whimsy.
