Above the Water is a poetic physical theatre piece that incorporates poems, movement, and puppetry to allow the audience and performers to walk together through the shifting complexities and landscapes of the five stages of grief.
After each performance, "Above the Water" will offer an optional de-briefing workshop, led by a licensed therapist to process the emotions that occurred during the show. "Above the Water" is not solely a theatrical experience but also a vehicle to decrease stigma surrounding sorrow and the need to grieve in the transformative and communal space of the theater.
This program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.
