New York City
In Steve Galluccio’s Mambo Italiano, twenty-something Italo-Canadian Angelo and his former best friend Nino, both favourite sons of Italian immigrant families, become a couple and move in together. And all is fine . . . almost. “What is so wrong with living with your parents until you get married?” That is until Angelo decides to come out of the closet and reveals he and Nino are more than mere roommates – they`re (gasp) lovers! All hell breaks loose, Italian style of course. Horror is followed by a general outcry; disbelief is followed by indignation; the battlefield is cleared and “tutta la famiglia” goes to war. Mambo Italiano is a hilarious comedy full of neurotic characters, witty dialogue, substance, and great humour. Willard Boudreau directs.
“It`s fresh, funny, very real and terribly touching.” – Richard Ouzounian, Toronto Star
