About the Show

This is a love story about two idealistic young people who drop out of the cynical world of the court to seek peace in the Forest of Arden — where love takes on surprising guises. One of Shakespeare’s best-loved romantic comedies, As You Like It is packed with gender-bending disguises, mistaken identities, and – of course – true love blooming in a magical forest. It also includes one of the juiciest women’s roles in all of Shakespeare – Rosalind, who famously utters: “Men have died from time to time and worms have eaten them, but not for love.” (She manages to find true love anyway.) With new music by Barenaked Ladies, the Stratford Festival’s production is set in the late 1960s — during a well-known “Summer of Love.”
