The Chairs

In this tragic farce, the line between fantasy and hallucination becomes blurred when an elderly couple whiles away the hours fantasizing about multitudes of expected guests, setting out rows of chairs for them to sit in. With brilliant eccentricity, Eugene Ionesco’s The Chairs combines a comic portrait of human folly with a magical experiment in theatrical possibilities.
