Denis Johnson’s new play, Purvis, marks the first event of Resident Theatre Company Campo Santo’s 10th Anniversary Year. In epic verse, Johnson examines personal and societal myths, heroes, and legends. Re-imagining 40 years of American history from the sensationalized gangster era of John Dillinger and Baby Face Nelson to the corrupt politics of the CIA, the FBI, LBJ, and J. Edgar Hoover, Purvis grapples with who we are and what we want to be.
