New York City
In this comedy of egos, On the Twentieth Century, Broadway producer and director Oscar Jaffe has left Chicago barely one step ahead of his creditors; his latest production was a disaster, his actors unpaid, his assets seized. Never one to surrender, however, the larger-than-life Jaffe quickly has a plan for a last-ditch, career-saving endeavor, one which depends on convincing his former leading lady (and ex-lover), now a Hollywood legend, to star in his latest play. A complete lack of funds, the absence of a script, and the fact that Lily now despises him are minor matters to be overcome, in Jaffe’s view. With all the necessary people aboard the luxury train The Twentieth Century, Jaffe will pull out all the stops to make Lily sign the dotted line by the time they reach New York. There are additional performances on Saturday, March 8 and 15 at 2pm.
