Schedule

Boxcar Bertha by Kerry Reid in collaboration with Christina Augello and John Warren, directed by John Warren and starring Christina Augello with Jack “Applejack” Walroth. Christina Augello is legendary depression era feminist and anarchist Bertha Thompson in this depression era saga that follows Bertha, a rugged hard living woman who rode the rails in the 1930s, on a journey from hobo to grifter, from prostitute to activist. Jack “Applejack” Walroth provides original music and accompaniment, shaping a simpatico musical backdrop to resonate with Bertha’s alternate universe of boxcars, soapboxes, and bordellos.

8:30PM Friday & Saturday July 15 through July 30. $10.

Los Vientos E Marzo / March Winds with Lynn Werner. An original solo theater piece with poetry and prose based on Lynn’s eight years documenting human rights abuses, torture, assassination, and disappearance in Colombia.

7PM July 15 and 16. $10.

I, Candidate Upton Sinclair with Jay Martin. Hear the story of Upton Sinclair, who ran for governor of California in 1934 with a plan to provide work for the Depression’s unemployed, in his own words when Jay performs excerpts from Sinclair’s memoir I, Candidate for Governor, and How I Got Licked.

The Land Of Orange Groves And Jails: Upton Sinclair’s California by Laren Coodley. On July 30, before the I, Candidate Upton Sinclair performance, Lauren Coodley will describe and sign her new book, the first biographical treatment of Upton Sinclair in decades.

5:30PM July 30 (Saturday). Free.

Will Draw For Food with Dan McHale & Chile Con Amy with Kristian Ruggieri. In Will Draw for Food animator Dan McHale loses work in San Francisco only to find it in South India in this meditation on drawing for money, singing alone, and belting out a tune in front of 60 stunned Indians in a concert hall that looks like a Hindu temple. Dan was Best of the Fringe winner in 2001. In Chile con Amy, Kristian Ruggieri tells the story of a Habitat for Humanity volunteer who must organize a crew of co-volunteers and learn to cope with one extremely difficult fellow American. Can being in charge really be that hard? Kristian’s volunteer house building trips have taken her to Guatemala, Peru, Romania, India and Chile. She has performed stand-up comedy with the Hyena Comedy All Stars and improv with Improvalicious, the Laugh Landers, and Flash Family.

7PM July 23 (Saturday) and July 29 (Friday). $10
